Inglourious Basterds Review
A Spaghetti Western is a movie about the american old west made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director.
Tarantino might've used this genre for a world war II movie because it goes against what most war films are supposed to do. It's slow building, dialogue filled, stylistic, with long-winding plots and revenge to be had. He might've wanted to try something new and subvert the audiences expectations.
1. Tarantino subverts the audiences expectations by killing off major characters almost as soon as they're introduced, like the British lieutenant.
2. Tarantino subverts the audiences expectations by doing an introduction story about only one of the basterds (Hugo Stiglitz) and none of the others.
3. He subverts the audiences expectations by having their be more dialogue than fighting...in a war film.
