What is a Spaghetti Western?
- a movie about the American Old West made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director.

Why would Tarantino use this genre for a World War II movie?
- He used this genre to present the harshness of war and how it is dealt with. There are many protagonists but they can also be antagonists in other ways. Showing that there can sometimes be a hero in the end that saves everyone. In Inglorious Basterds, Aldo is shown to be the protagonist but when killing everyone else, he can be a antagonist. In the movie, there is characters that come out of the shadows that no one knew was there. Many characters can also be working with other groups but then go against them in the end.

3 ways Tarantino subverts the audiences expectations:
- The characters that survived a killing in the beginning of the film are later present in the end of the film
- Some of the characters just talking can show the audience that they are building relationships by just talking about irrelevant topics
- Most films are followed in chronological order but in the film by Tarantino, he does not put the movie in order at all. There is also chapters to the film.
